very comfortable and cosy stay- stayed in the guesthouse next door but could access the facilities of the main hotel which was very convenient! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful which made the stay so much more pleasant :)

Guesthouse by the Rex is a small guesthouse facility next door to The Rex Hotel. The hotel reception handled our check-in and were so helpful with directions, sourcing for a kettle from the hotel for us (guestroom didn't come with a kettle), arranging a buggy transfer to the train station (although we could have walked the short distance). The location was perfect - a peaceful lane off the main street and just a couple of minutes walk from the main square where the church, Matterhorn Museum, and gelato store was. The in-hotel Backzeit Bakery makes delicious coffee, sourdough sandwiches, and irresistable cardamom buns! The Rex is located between the main shops (with ski rental) and the Matterhorn Express gondola / lift to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise - perfect for seasoned skiers. Beginner skiers should note that the guesthouse is located at the opposite end of the town from the gondola / lift to Sunega (where beginners take their lessons).
