“Brilliant and worth visiting.”

The facilities are very well looked after. Refugio, the gent who was in charge of letting us have the keys was very helpful and friendly. The amenities for the house are exceptional, beds very comfortable and definitely worth staying there.

“Vacation-home accommodation in Zacatlán, very comfortable and peaceful”
13 Jul 2022
This is a great place to stay in Zacatlán. It's probably best for those with their own vehicle, because it's on the edge of town (actually semi-rural surroundings, with some beautiful horses grazing). However, we were car-less and it wasn't an issue -- it's a pleasant 25-minute stroll into town, and we took taxis back. It's located in a small, working-class barrio with very friendly and helpful neighbours (the guy next door, Refugio, who will probably meet you with the keys, is actually the guy who renovated the place). One note of caution: be clear about what you're renting. The photos are mixed together on the page, and I was expecting a full kitchen, living room, dining room, etc. This is actually for the big family rental; what I ended up booking was the "Posada Junior" suite, which is up some outside stairs on the second floor. Fortunately, the two-level, three-bedroom family accommodation was free, and for a very modest surcharge we were able to upgrade. The "Junior" accommodation would be fine for 1-2 people, but the family vacation home is truly first-class, very spacious, and with that full kitchen. Options for purchasing food are limited if you're on foot, but down Montesito street (a 10-minute walk) there are a couple of useful shops for the basics (vegetables, drinks, etc.). The area is quiet except for the roosters crowing in the a.m., and the occasional barking dogs -- welcome to Mexico! The design is modern and appealing -- there's no air-con, but Zacatlán is at quite a high altitude, and the climate is gorgeous. Wi-fi is strong and stable throughout. Note that with the boiler for hot water, don't worry if, once you light the pilot, it doesn't go to full flame when you turn it to "Caliente"/hot. That's because the water in the tank is already hot -- the flame doesn't light until it's used and needs to be reheated.
