Hana “Beautiful Ryokan”

I always prefer staying at small, family-run guesthouses to avoid the noise of large tour groups, and this Ryokan was the perfect choice. Located just a short walk from the main street of Yufuin, the location is incredibly convenient. I stayed for two nights and was able to explore the whole area on foot after parking my car. The house has a charming Japanese-European aesthetic, and my "Washitsu-Yo" room was surprisingly spacious. With only three guest rooms in total, the atmosphere was exceptionally quiet and private. During my stay, I only encountered other female guests, which gave it a safe, "dorm-like" feeling in the best way possible. Although the toilets are located outside the rooms, there are two of them for only three rooms, so it felt almost like having a private bathroom. The onsen follows the same principle—you simply lock the door for a completely private soak. The Japanese breakfast provided was delicious and hearty, with a different menu each morning. The owner is a lovely Japanese lady who lives on-site but gives guests plenty of space. It felt like a "home away from home." If you value peace, privacy, and a personal touch, I highly recommend this place.

Ryokan experience, spacious room, private onsen that can be used anytime it is not occupied. Breakfast was nice. About 5 min walk to yunotsubo street.

The location was near the main sites yet off the touristy routes, providing tranquility and a peaceful atmosphere. The host takes good care of the properly with tasteful interior decorations providing a comfortable place for rest and showing the host’s style. Breakfast provided shows the effort and care put into providing a meal for the guests by the host.
