Very near to York Minster cathedral - about 10-min. walk at my slower pace. "Full English" & "Small English" breakfast were good & quite large - didn't need any lunch.

An absolute JEM. Staff (particularly Clair) familiy run (and owned?) Spending time in the pub is like watching an episode of east enders.. TheWiteHorse is a quirky pub/hotel on the edge of the York city walls. A short walk from the railwaystation, and everything in ancient York was in walking distance The premise itself is on an intersection of busy roads so expect some traffic noise. Our room (nr5) was hugh for these types of rooms. Large bathroom, and since its aan old building there are small steep squeaky stairs, but All in all, we would book this definitely again. The location was ideal for the train station and the racecourse. The facilities in the bedroom were great. Plenty of tea, coffee, shower gel, shampoo etc. Breakfast was fantastic. Plenty of choice and well cooked.

staff were tremendous from chef to bar staff all excellent.hotel was maybe not noisy due to traffic but location excellent also.locals drinking in bar all very friendly as well.
