The staff were very helpful, friendly and attentive. The breakfast was nice and excellent value for money. A few age related marks and cobwebs but overall the it was clean. Location is good just a 25 minute walk to get into the town along the canal or past the railway museum. We found walking past the museum was much quicker. There is a Chinese takeaway opposite the pub which we used and the pub kindly allowed us to eat downstairs providing us with the necessary cutlery. The locals were also friendly and welcoming and happy to advise you on the best spots.

The staff were lovely & responsive to requests. The location was good. It was a short bus ride to the centre of York. The heating worked & there were basics provided like tea and coffee & a hairdryer. If you like a firm mattress, this is a great place to stay. You were provided with a key to the street door & were separate to the bar patrons. This made us feel safe. Parking was on the street but was available & we left it there, safely, for a couple of days. Good value for money.

A quaint village stay. Authentic. Peaceful. Comfortable. The hosts of our stay were friendly and helpful in meeting all our family needs. Close to Chinese Restaurant - Yummy Ho, which was very eagerly consumed in the private dining room of The Leeman Rose. 🌹
