Beautifully decorated. So close to York, parked up car, and haven't used it since here. Everything in walking distance and felt safe when walking home after various activities. The children enjoyed the quirkiness, and all York had to offer. They're already talking about coming back.

I have to start by saying that I stay in a lot of places, and I can't remember ever having reviewed somewhere with NOTHING that could be improved. That's just how it goes, right? It's always a little too noisy? A little too far from the good stuff in town? Weird smell? Hosts distant and/or unhelpful? No power socket by the bed? You get the idea. Well... that chain is broken. I've stayed in a dozen places in York over the years but as long as this place is available I won't choose anywhere else. The location is incredible. Five minutes' walk and you're in the centre of the city and yet I didn't hear ANY classic city noise during the entire stay. No party-goers screaming between bars, no inconsiderate suped-up VW golf drivers roaring past at 1am because they just aren't getting enough attention at home, not a peep. Beds were very comfortable. The whole place is so tastefully decorated and provides just about every mod-con you could hope for in a self-catering stay. The host was super communicative, I never needed to ask for anything. Access was a key-from-lockbox job, which I dread usually. Previously such places have seen me sprinting through a building, yard and car park in order to return a key to a box bloody miles from a property before a timed gate closes. None of that, it's all very close and very civilised. What else? Great modern kitchen. Lovely garden area. TWO toilets (needed when 4+ people are staying and having celebratory wine!). Just amazing. Can't wait to come back.
