This is a charming family-run hotel with beautiful historical touches in a lovely neighbourhood. It was a former stained-glass artist's house and there are beautiful examples of this in the house. The location was quiet at night. The modern bathroom with walk-in shower was excellent. The made-to-order breakfast with veggie options was very good. (If you're a coffee drinker, stick to tea as the coffee is on the weak side.) The walk into historic York was easy to do. I love the fact that it's dog-friendly.

The building itself is stunning with beautiful stained glass windows, and our room felt very luxurious and comfortable. I cannot get over the value for money really to be able to stay in such a lovely place for 3 people. Breakfast was really nice and there were great options for those who did not fancy a full English (although it did look very appetising and my husband enjoyed his). June was very welcoming and went out of her way to help us by storing our family’s bikes in her private garden.
