York Cottage was the perfect find for our week in Wooler. Location was perfect, right in the center so close to great shops, food , antiques, gifts, books, bakeries etc and many cafes, restaurants, takeaways and pubs; but also the lane the cottage was on was part of St Cuthberts way with direct walking routes right up into the Cheviot hills. We spent many days not using the car as we could do long walks to so many places directly from the cottage. We did drive to the beach one day near Bamburgh Castle and went to visit Cragside house, both within 30 mins of Wooler. The cottage itself was very comfortable and clean and we loved sitting in the garden, morning and evening. On arrival we were delighted to find the hosts had left us a loaf of bread, some milk, butter, scones,Jam and some fruit, hugely welcome after what had been a difficult journey to get there. Jeff, the host, could not have been more helpful, and Linda who lives locally was on hand if we needed anything. We didnt! just had a fabulous week and will be back to York Cottage to explore Wooler and its surroundings further.

The cottage was very spacious and comfy and only around the corner to the main street. There was everything we needed and it was in a particularly quiet spot. An excellent cottage for exploring Northumberland.

The cottage is ideally located for the Cheviot hills & a 30 minute drive from amazing beaches at Bamburgh & Cocklawburn. Also close to larger towns of Alnwick & Berwick-upon-Tweed. The owner was friendly, offering advice on places of interest nearby & recommending places to eat out. The cottage itself was a home from home with everything anyone would need for a stay there. I had a lovely week long holiday.

House and location excellent , beds very comfy. We found the lounge furniture a little uncomfortable and not much room to stretch out on the two seater sofa.
