Guest houses Overview

For over 20 years our guests house has been a place of comfort and warmth and genuine hospitality. What began as a simple dream has grown into a home from home for travellers from all over the world. We are proud to be consistently rated 9.8 on this site a reflection of the care and attention and the personal touch we strive to offer every guest. Even more meaningful to us are the familiar faces who return year after year, choosing to stay with us again and again. Last year we were touched to receive over 30 handwritten thank you cards – kind words that remind us of why we do what we do. Every message every return visit and recommendation inspires us to keep delivering the highest standard of comfort and service. We look forward to welcoming you and hope your stay with us becomes one of your own cherished memories.
Denehurst Guest House is a traditional Lakeland stone house built in 1898. It offers free WiFi and parking and an award-winning breakfast menu featuring Cumbrian produce.
Each of the elegantly styled rooms all have an en suite shower with towels, hairdryers and toiletries. All rooms have a Smart TV, tea and coffee facilities and a teddy bear.
Here at Denehurst you can enjoy a full Cumbrian breakfast, featuring local bacon and sausages and free-range farm eggs as well as a Vegetarian version. Also included on the menu are homemade, waffles, croissants, porridge and smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Cereals, yoghurt, fruit and juice are also on the menu. We do of course cater for guests with a Gluten Free diet.
Our house is situated conveniently right in the middle between the two towns of Windermere and Bowness. You can walk to either town in approx 10-15 minutes. Bowness-on-Windermere offers boat trips on the lake and the World of Beatrix Potter. Each town has a varied selection of excellent restaurants. The popular towns and villages of Grasmere and Ambleside are both within 15-20 minutes’ drive or bus journey. Denehurst Guest House is a 15-minute walk from Windermere railway station. Our location is ideal for exploring the whole of The Lake District National Park.

Stayed at Denehurst Guest House and had a fantastic experience. The location is excellent—perfectly situated for exploring the area and close to plenty of amenities. The breakfast was outstanding, with great quality and plenty of choice to start the day right. A real highlight of the stay. Ken, the owner, was very welcoming and incredibly helpful. His local knowledge and tips made a big difference and helped us discover some great spots we might have otherwise missed. There are also lots of choices for eating out nearby, so you’re never short of options in the evenings. Overall, a wonderful stay—highly recommended!
