Not quite sure what to expect after reading some mixed reviews but when we arrived the bar area was very busy but we were quickly checked in, shown where the emergency escape was then shown to our room on the first floor. Went out for a quick walk in the very pretty village after a long car drive and by that time the bar area was much quieter. Had a couple drinks which were sensibly priced then went for a lovely dinner in the Snug where we could choose from the Snug or Dining Room menus. A very good breakfast the following morning. The room we stayed at was fine and well decorated as was the whole place.

The room was lovely and clearly freshly refurbished, however the bathroom being on the ground floor meant that at night we had to use the very steep and dark flight of stairs to reach it, not ideal and not really safe.
