An excellent choice of breakfast. All freshly prepared. Bread is homemade and top class ingredients used throughout. Our evening meal was also beautifully cooked. We both had a local lamb steak which was cooked to perfection with seasonal vegetables. Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream or cream to follow. Emiko our hostess was friendly and welcoming making us feel very much at home. We stayed in Ennerdale, a large double room with a good sized en-suite and sitting area. There are walks up Black Combe directly from the Wayside. The bar contains the largest collection of whiskies that we have ever seen. All in all it is an excellent b and b. We will certainly stay there again on our next visit to Cumbria.

Emiko is the most amazing host - welcoming, gracious and with a wealth of ideas for activities including wild swimming tips! Her knowledge and collection of single malt whiskies is second to none and we enjoyed several tastings in the relaxed surroundings of the barn.

The location was spot on for myself who enjoys quietness, there are attractions not far away, easy 10 - 20 min drive that kept us entertained for the time we were there. Emiko was great, knowledgeable of the area, and the whisky. Very easy to interact with. Great all-round experience.
