We had a wonderful long weekend at the wayside and whisky bar. Emiko and the rest of the staff made our stay a beautiful one. It is a lovely place where you can just feel at home.

We enjoyed our stay very much and our host Emiko made us feel very welcome. She helped us find walks on the local beach and on the fell behind the house. Plenty more walks to do so hope to return again soon! Both dinner and breakfast were excellent.

We loved our stay at the Wayside and genuinely look forward to returning. The accommodation, service and food was 10/10. We stayed in ‘Buttermere’, the blue room, which had the best view over Black Combe. It felt like a home away from home. Emiko was such an accommodating host, friendly and very informative on things to do in the Lake District. Doreen was also a delight to meet! Our pre-arranged evening meal and breakfast (included in the booking) were both divine, using quality ingredients. If you want a peaceful stay in a remote area of the western lakes, stay here!
