Vicki “Beautiful, comfortable hotel of a bygone era”

Everything was exceptional. Please note the outside photo does not do the hotel justice! It is a beautiful old hotel with lots of character, the inside rooms are modern and very comfortable! The hotel has fabulous, friendly staff & we were checked in by the lovely Maria who had the biggest & most infectious smile. She has worked at the hotel for 24 years! Our room was spotlessly clean and large, with a Juliette Balcony & street views. However very quiet & peaceful with a very comfortable bed. Our booking included breakfast, which was prepared & served by the very attentive Diana and Teresa. Nothing was too much trouble and we were always greeted with a huge smile. Parking available near to the hotel for €12 per day. We visited local nearby beaches which were safe and relaxing. Restaurants, showers & other public facilities readily available. Totally geared up for tourists! Finally, and one of the highlights of our stay were the wonderful seafood restaurants, recommended by the hotel staff. (Luis & Martin).. All within a short walk away, but please note that the streets can be hilly. I suppose taxis are readily available, although we didn't use them. . A huge thank you to Hotel Compestela and we look forward to returning!

The hotel was in an excellent location, near many restaurants and bars, and also just around the corner from both the port and the old part of town. The hotel was also very easy to find, signed well and on the street rather than hidden in a back alley. Our family room was clean with an en suite bathroom inclusive of a walk-in shower. The air conditioning was very effective, which was handy given that the temperature outside had been 38°C during the day! We'd booked a triple room, which we asked to be set up as one double and one single bed, and contacted the hotel directly to arrange an extra bed because we had our two children with us, and the hotel was accommodating of this for a small extra fee. And we were pleased on arrival that they had remembered and actioned our request, because so many other places have not done so when we had an agreement in advance. Parking is also available for a small fee, but it is limited and you have to contact the hotel in advance to reserve it. Like many Spanish hotels in cities, the parking is underground nearby in a shared garage with other places. It was tight to get in and out, but that's to be expected with inner city hotels. The staff were always very pleasant and helpful. Our room was tidied and made up well every day while we were out. Finally there was a nice cafe attached to the restaurant which does croissants and small breakfasts, but beware that this cafe is only open in the mornings and the hotel does not have any lunch or dinner facilities... But there are many restaurants within a few seconds' walk so that is not an issue.
