Wow! The hosts were amazing and really ensured our first night/ day in Sri Lanka was memorable and authentic. They were extremely helpful and provided us with all the information we could possibly need. We ended up spending the day with him and he took us all the way to our second place, stopping on the way to show us tea and delicious roti and sambal. He provided us with an in depth history of himself, his family and Sri Lanka in general. Such an informative experience ❤️ The breakfast in the morning was delightful and we loved meeting the three little triplets. Amazing, would HIGHLY recommend.

Eranda and family were incredibly hospitable, caring and kind. The food they cooked was incredible. Only regret is that we didn’t stay longer!

Hosts are incredibly attentive and helpful, and warmly welcomed us into their home and family. Lovely, quiet location and comfortable beds. All meals were home made, enormous and greatly varied with delicious local produce, mosty from the hosts’ own garden. All clearly made with a lot of love and care. Despite arriving tired and jet-lagged we felt safe and cared for straight away and enjoyed every minute of our stay.

Wow. What an incredible stay we had at Mango Roots. The room had all we needed and was clean and cooled by the aircon. The host was beyond warm, friendly and helpful. He taught us many interesting things about Sri Lanka, the people and how the country works. We enjoyed wonderful meals with the host and his friendly and energetic family. His wifes pancakes and food won't be beaten! We felt like part of the family and learned so much. We are keen birdwatchers and enjoyed watching the many birds eat the mangos from the tree in the garden - including some endemics. The rice paddy fields down the lane were also a great place to find lots of bird and animal life. A trip to the local Horogolla national park gave a great first rainforest bird experience. If you know how to watch birds and animals in the jungle and have patience you will see a lot - we were treated to mixed flocks, up close territorial white and rufous oriental flycatchers, giant squirrels, spiders and a large monitor lizard. We wpuld cpme and stay again in a heatbeat!
