Resort Overview

Bambu Indah is a boutique hotel in Ubud and prides itself on combining antique architecture and design in a luxury setting. This collection of antique teak homes is called "bambu indah" as the name translates to "beautiful bamboo". Bambu Indah believes that its land should be responsibly cultivated to produce nutritious food. Dapoer promises a one-of-a-kind Indonesian dining experience true to the roots of the archipelago, in an inspired, innovative ambiance that offers an authentic relationship with nature. The garden produce is enjoyed by both its customers and staff. While most pools require large amounts of concrete and chemicals, the one at this property uses lava stones and a vegetation regeneration zone, which naturally cleanses, filters and oxygenates the water and nurtures beneficial bacteria. The hotel features a hospital standard triple filter water system, which makes its water safe to drink straight from the tap.

Jambu House is a two-storey marvel surrounded by dancing banana palms and vibrant rice paddies. Perfect for a family or small group, this original Gladak house features spacious 31 m² bedrooms on both floors. Upstairs, you will find two double beds with upscale mattresses and fine linen sheets, along with an oversized reading chair. The highlight of Jambu is a whimsical tunnel leading to a bamboo bathroom with an imaginative hanging copper bathtub and a heart-shaped copper rain shower. A 16 m² northwest-facing porch offers a daybed and table, along with views of the majestic Bongkasa landscape; a perfect place to enjoy the sunset. The spiral staircase brings you downstairs where reclaimed iron wood floors are surrounded by mud walls adorned with tribal art and skylights. A king-size bed with fine linens rests alongside a notable writing desk and cozy reading chair. The open-air ensuite bathroom dazzles with a 4m rain shower, and Javanese stone tub. This blend of comfort and luxury is enhanced by the spacious closets, natural body products, cotton waffle robes, and hand-made snacks and healthy drinks in refrigerators in both rooms. Jambu is positioned conveniently near to the pebble-lined pool, Sunset Elevator Bar and Tembaga restaurant.

Named after John's children, Elora and Orin is a two story house that was originally part of their private home. The beloved bedrooms were such a delight to grow up in that we could not resist but to lovingly relocate them to Bambu Indah for you and your family to enjoy. This wooden two-story house is warm and inviting, perfect for families of 4 or groups of friends. Both bedrooms are complete with one outdoor and one indoor bathroom. Spend the afternoon nuzzled in a couch on the deck, looking out onto the gardens.

This large and lovely wooden house offers a picturesque view of the famed Sayan Ridge. I loved every minute of our stay. This hotel is like nothing I’ve experienced before. The architecture, the nature, the attention to detail. It’s welcoming, unpretentious and inspiring in every way. The food was delicious both at the Riverside Warung and at Tembaga where they offer a curated menu with ”logentivity cuisine” in mind. We were there on a Thursday when they offer a beautiful acoustic concert. I highly recommend it. Bambu Indah is a dream whether you’re a solo traveler, with your friends or your family (both kids and teens would love it).

It’s not only about the environment, but the whole concept. The service is warm and attentive, and the food is thoughtfully prepared — no fast food, sugary options, or soft drinks, just clean and nourishing flavors. The carefully selected art and antiques, combined with the creative use of nature as part of the interior design, make this place truly unique and inspiring.
