Pros: The rooms are big and the bed is comfortable. The washroom is clean and has hot water. It is right in front of the beach. The owner was very helpful and arranged a tuk-tuk for me.

Genuine hospitality from an owner who really cares for his guests. Very friendly and ready to help. The room was a step away from the beach and very quiet. Absolutely money for value. Totally recommended.

Location - Black Star is in the quieter working / fishing part of Trinco - which we loved. Supplies and local restaurants are a short walk away - Brothers Baker are worth a trip to for short eats and there are plenty of small roadside shops that are better value than the supermarket. Black Star is the last property down lane so is next to the beach - perfect to nip down for a sunrise swim. If you want touristy food its a short tuk-tuk ride (400-450 LKR) or a walk along beach. The set up is 3 rooms, with a shared terrace with kettle/fridge-freezer/crockery and tea/coffee is supplied. Terrans is a wonderful host, really helpful and informative.

Sitting on the Blackstar Inn balcony is the most relaxed we felt on our trip. You can easily spend the day reading in the shade, looking over the trees to the ocean where locals are pulling in the fishing nets. The room was comfortable and spacious, and it was great to have access to a fridge, kettle and some basic utensils. Most of all Terans is a helpful and kind host who went out of his way to make sure we had a pleasant stay. It is a short tuktuk ride to the tourist strip, but we really enjoyed being in a more private setting - it felt like being at home!
