“Charming house”
21 Feb 2025
Very special experience to be able to stay in an old charming historical house like this. We were there around mid Feb, it was snowing heavily when we were there and the entrance was covered with snow, so we have very narrow entrance for car and ppl to get into the house. We were caught up by the road condition and arrived late, but the hose - Maiko is so kind to keep waiting for us. House is big, it's suitable for big family trip. There is a tatami bedroom in 1st flr and 2nd flr. My kids have fun to clean the snow in front of the house every morning.

“I will really like to visit again and stay in Kome Home.”

The staff is very helpful in responding to our inquiry and very kind to pick us up and drive us to the station on check out. She speaks English fluently so we can have some chats through which we learned more about the region and the local people. Besides basic utensils and facilities, there are even coffee beans, seasonings, rice and persimmon which we are free to eat and use. The environment is quiet and peaceful as we are surrounded by rice fields and other farm houses.

We loved everything!!! Stayed with my sisters so we have the whole cottage to ourselves! The accommodation itself is well taken care of, despite it being 70 years!!! We only stayed for one night but will definitely come back and stay longer next time. The place was well equipped for cooking, and there's a mini market about 5 mins drive. I would say it's a good size for family and a group of friends. View-wise you're basically surrounded by well taken care of rice fields! If you love nature and peace and quiet, you won't regret staying here. We were blessed with a beautiful weather in late June and was able to see the beautiful Hoshitouge rice terraces at sunrise. Maiko was also well-versed in English so we were able to converse well and gave us lots of recommendations of where to go and what to do in the area. It's in the countryside so I will definitely recommend renting a car. Can't wait to come back!!!
