The fine print
To avoid disappointment, please contact the property in advance if you would like to book a table for dinner, as the inn is very busy in the evenings.Our sister pub the Salutation Inn is our dog friendly property. We do have a small fee of £12 per dog which is payable at the time of check in.

Decent stay. The place has some very quaint features to it. The room was small and above the pub-rear which created a lot of noise from the courtyard- mostly from staff. And noise from the pub below of course. However- it's a pub and so you expect this and for thr most part it's a nice part of staying in a pub. The evening noise stopped quickly after 11pm. The bed wasn't actually all that comfortable but the place was spotless. The room had great tea, coffee and biscuits etc.. The shower was lovely and the staff were always friendly. It's a superb spot for exploring the local fells without any of the noise and bustle of Keswick. The bus to and from Keswich/Penrith passes right by the pub front door. There's also a nice beer garden. It's a decent/solid stay but also a high nightly rate. The breakfast was good. The eggs were great. Proper eggs that taste like eggs (not battery hen stuff). The coffee, however, was very poor. The guys urgently need to test their coffee on a proper coffee drinker (not someone who thinks instant coffee is okay).

Overall excellent value for money. The room was in the Salutation as we had the dog with us. It was spacious and well equipped for the dog with bed and bowls. The bed was comfortable. It was clean. We ate at the Horse and Farrier - Sunday dinner was good and there was a good selection of draught beers. Breakfast was provided and was good but could do with a bit more choice. Lots of parking. The staff were helpful and pleasant.
