The overall setting is brilliant and the geothermal pools very lovely. Very helpful staff who were obviously trying hard under the new ownership.

We like Wairakei but the room we had was dated and it lacked extras like another pillow and towel. We stayed two nights with a break in between. The room on the second night was better. We had a visit from a cockroach on the first night.
