Authentic Japanese experience! This ryokan truly immerses you in Japanese culture, from the traditional amenities to the beautifully designed rooms and breakfast. We loved the room, complete with a cozy bed and a Japanese-style table. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, making us feel welcome throughout our stay. They even provided us with yakutas to wear while exploring the city, and the Japanese breakfast was delicious. We also tried the private bath, which was a wonderfully relaxing experience. The lobby had a charming atmosphere, offering complimentary teas, a small shop, and origami papers to practice while unwinding. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience Japan in an authentic and comfortable way!

The hotel is divine. Just 2 minutes from the station, the most attentive staff I can remember anywhere I have been, and a very traditional Japanese experience. My daughters loved dressing up in the traditional outfits, and the breakfast was wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff here - my youngest managed to leave a necklace in her room at checkout (not an uncommon experience!) and they came to find us at the station while we were waiting for our train to give it to her. Above and beyond - fantastic.

Lovely premises, great location and beautiful staff. We loved Takayama but being in our mid 60’s we found sleeping on the floor and not having any chairs or tables except on the floor was quite difficult for 3 nights. In our room there was a very small 2 seat couch but it had a very poor fitting cover and it was not conducive to sitting on. The bathroom was a wet room, old but functional but it meant you were getting dried and doing you hair, teeth deodorant etc in the foyer of the room. I think a 1 night stay would have given us a taste and we would have enjoyed it rather than a 3 night stay.
