Please note that the property is not staffed after 20:00 and guests who do not contact the property in advance will not be able to to check-in after this time.Please note that there are no restaurants, convenience stores or supermarkets around the hotel. Guests are kindly advised to dine in the city centre or to bring take-out meals to the hotel.Please note, as the property is located in the mountains, there may be some insects such as Pentatomoidea, or shield bugs nearby. Unforgettable experience. We came on the weekend, so prices were a bit higher but I do not regret it. We were upgraded to a room with a private onsen, which was the cherry on the cake. Rooms are very spacious. The food (had the hida beef kaizeki dinner) was excellent. I also enjoyed the tranquility of this ryokan. The bus stops basically in front of the house. We went to Kamikochi, hiked up towards Mt. nishihotakadake and took the Shinhotaka Ropeway back down, a daytrip I can highly recommend.

Room is spacious, and hospitality is amazing. Original Ryokan & quiet (no influencer). We got private onsen in our room which is amazing. To top it up, KAISEKI is a must! Food and the Hida Beef is outstanding.

After reading some of the reviews I was a little concerned about staying here but this was a very spacious and beautiful setting with great facilities and a nice balance between Japanese & Western tastes including mattress beds instead of futons and upright dining. The hosts were very pleasant and we had a separate bedroom and living room which was a welcome surprise. The food was lovely with generous portions and side dishes. We tried all the Onsen which we had to ourselves each time. The library and other social areas were a nice addition and there was adequate parking on the opposite side of the road. Lovely pyjama sets and and jackets. Despite the warning, we did not encounter the stink bugs. I was grateful that they let me change my mind re having the full course meal given the additional high costs.

Our first experience of ryokan style of accommodation. My husband and I arrived late at midnight & still able to use their beautiful outdoor onsen which is 24/7. Couldn’t make it to dinner but we thoroughly enjoyed ryokan style breakfast, which is the best breakfast experience by far.
