Location was great, amazing views. Stayed in one of the bell tents which was very spacious. We stayed 2 nights which means we received complimentary firewood for the fire pit which the kids loved toasting marshmallows on. The facilities where only a short walk away and we never had to wait to use the toilet or the showers. I saw them being well maintained during my stay.

It's a community of hard working people, peaceful , respecful ,communinate with locals is an easy experience.. These time around wanted to travel the south west coast by walk- country side paths , the aim was acieved- Herston Halt caravan / campsite to Worth Matravers another small community that has jurassic dinosaurs foot prints in limestone pave pieces. Once reaching the village either by walk, car, motor bike, bicycle visit the only pub - Square & Compass a 300 years old building, where you can order a pint of : home made cider beverage , home made pies , sit on limestone or wooden benches and place your food and drink over limestone or wooden tables placed outside with a view towards the old quarry , green trees and the atlantic ocean at 3/4 distance. There are dining rooms inside the building and a room museum where interesting fossil engraves of shells, and preistoric creatures are kept in glass shelves all thanks to the landlord interest in finding and collecting those pieces. Then you can walk the path through the trees lead down the quarry and the ocean , take a dip or two ( not sandy beach but limestone blocks. I recommend visiting Worth Matravers with or without children , yoi won't be disappointed by the natural environment.

We have used Herston earlier in the year for a short stay, it is in a good location for what we needed, easy access to the beach and town, the toilets/ showers were kept clean every day, plenty of firewood for the fire pit and good neighbours that let us borrow a flame to start it.
