I loved my stay there however after my first night, I was moved to a mixed dormitory which I didn’t like and had to pay for an extra room as I didn’t want to share a room with another gender. After that I extended my trip and wanted to move back to the girls dormitory but the man at the reception kept insisting I get a double room which I didn’t mind on day one and shared with a friend but night two he insisted and somehow forced me and made me take a room that was double my original choice asking price for a night; which was obviously over budget and was inconsiderate. When asked him if I could change he was very standoffish and told me a couple was previously there asking for accommodation and I would “lose the business money” so I was forced to stay there at my extra expense and he didn’t care to check on me as I was upset about it. The rooms also lacked hot shower except the last single room that I was forced to take. The other staff however especially the lady making breakfast & the cleaners were extremely kind and lovely to me. I didn’t like the unprofessionalism of the man at the reception but besides that I enjoyed my stay and it’s a very central place to explore Zanzibar.

Owner had promised to arrange transport but had forgotten about it. Anyway,hostel bunk bed ok & clean. Dustbin not enough,only 1 in the toilet. Kitchen ok but we dont have full access.Got air conditioner & fan. Staff friendly.

Very friendly staff, booked taxi to airport for us at 2am. Very simple checking in process and room very easily accessible from little street outside. Spacious twin room with very large single beds! Great value for money. Excellent location within maze of Stone Town little streets.
