Sandridge Boathouse was a perfect location for a week away after getting married and to celebrate a birthday. The outlook is stunning and we were treated to a wonderful selection of wildlife for company, including a seal in the river, a kingfisher, various ducks and swans, as well as woodpeckers and owls in the woods above the house. The walk through the trees to and from the car parking area is not really that far, though it is a little steep in places. The steps down to the house give wonderful views, and yes, there are 71 of them so the journey back up is invigorating! The house is well-equipped with everything you are likely to need for a week away. It is a comfortable place for a holiday if you want peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings. The showers and bath all worked well. The main bed was very comfy. The heating worked well although we lit the wood burner for a bit of extra warmth after a couple of particularly cold afternoon walks. Walking through the grounds was wonderful, as was walking into Stoke Gabriel for coffee/lunch. We appreciated the lift to and from the top of the steps with our luggage and the useful information from staff on the estate. I would happily return here.
