“We had a lovely stay and would definitely come back if we were returning to this area”

The property is old and quirky which I much prefer over a modern property. Beds were comfy and outside space lovely. The owners were very friendly and kindly gave us milk as we arrived on a Sunday night.

“Superb”

Really spacious apartment located in the center of Sparti. The owners were so kind that waited for us even though we arrived late at night! The beds were super comfortable. Highly recommended!!

“A lovely and unusual place to stay”
19 Jun 2023
We loved this ground-floor apartment in a 100-year-old building. Unlike many recent purpose-built places (however nice), this feels like an authentic Greek home: open-plan living/dining/kitchen area with comfortable couches, crocheted cushion covers and petsetakia, traditional ornaments, dining table that could sit at least eight people, marble floors with rugs, stone-look walls etc. (Although the house-name commemorates a famous battle, there's nothing to make you think of a military barracks!) It's one of the 'landlady-lives-upstairs' places, with personalised service, rather than the 'pick-up-the-keys-from-a-lockbox-and-never-see-a-soul' type. We were one of the first sets of visitors and one or two things were missing (like a bathmat), but Tina supplied everything we asked for with great speed and efficiency. Very spacious and airy - and *cool* (due to those old, metre-thick walls). Some traces of former use as a bar add to the character of the place; e.g. what was clearly once a two-stall toilet, whose heavy metal doors have boards to advertise forthcoming events, has had one stall now converted to a magnificent large wetroom, and the whole areα been retiled. Not sure whether the long kitchen 'bar' is also left over from this time. Large mirrors all over the apartment give the impression of even more space. Oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge (in which Tina had put water, olives & fruit). Plenty of cupboard space in the kitchen and towards the back of the apartment. And the crown jewel: terrace at the back with table and chairs amidst Tina's green and floral garden. This was shaded both morning and late afternoon/early evening, and was absolutely delightful. Great central location, a couple of blocks to the town square, and more cafes, restaurants, bakers and zaharoplasteia than we could visit in six days.
