“Superb”

Absolutely fantastic villa in a secluded location. We enjoyed two weeks here in the mountains with a view of Etna (just!) but also the spectacular views over the Alcantara valley. The villa itself is huge - far bigger than we were expecting based on photos - and has everything we needed for a family of five: air conditioning, WiFi, pool, kitchen, BBQ, washing machine, and more. Alessandro was a friendly and kind host: he waited to meet us at the villa, even though we were on a late flight and didn't arrive until 11pm. He explained everything carefully and gave us his number for any questions. He also helped in recommending some places to visit, including local vineyards and suggesting local tours. In the main villa there is one bedroom upstairs and one bedroom downstairs, with a separate chalet/cabin for the third bedroom. Our eldest son was happy to be in there, but note that it isn't air conditioned. With the windows open in the evening it was still a pleasant temperature for sleeping though. Another advantage is that the whole villa is powered by solar power. There are panels on the roof and three big batteries, which worked perfectly well for us even with the air conditioning running a fair amount. The road down to the villa is quite an experience - particularly in a hire car - as it is very tight, but after doing it a couple of times we managed to get the hang of it. There are vines and olive trees surrounding the property: our boys enjoyed playing in these for hours. We also had a couple of donkeys as neighbours who were very friendly! The local village is small but has a fantastic pastry shop: Gabriele who works there was so friendly and we went there almost every day for breakfast. There's also a deli selling cured meats and paninis, plus a small local shop selling other essential items. Oh and a pharmacy too.
