What an absolute gem of a place this is! We managed to get a last minute 2 night stay, along with an evening meal on the first night, and lunch on the second day. The food on offer certainly wasn't your typical "pub grub", but instead was more towards the bistro end of bistro-pub, exceeding expectations at every turn. The pork I had was some of the best I've eaten, and the mushroom risotto my partner had was sublime. I may recommend that the pork, which was an exceedingly thick cut, perhaps be served with a steak knife next time? The breakfast the next morning was great, but the lunch we had was exceptional, with the mushrooms on toast and the fried chicken both being outstanding. We will definitely be back for another visit as soon as possible, and wish the new owners all the success with their new venture, which already promises to be a firm favourite among many!

This property is under new ownership ; it’s a project in development but you can see a very positive intention to develop it. It is basic but clean and comfortable. The chef is excellent and the bar has a selection of cask ales

Location was stunning. Clearly working hard to upgrade. Nice owner, good breakfast served with manners and convivial conversation.
