Large rooms and an attractive peaceful environment. The amazing service we received from Roshan Rathnayaka, the manager. We had two days in Sigiryia and with his help we were able to organise a programme that involved visiting Lions Rock, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and a cooking lesson for one of our party, who really enjoyed it. Roshan gave us excellent advice on what time of day to visit sites, how long we would need there and how long to get there and also organised transfers at competitive prices and Tut Tuts for short trips, We enjoyed food at the restaurant and again Roshan made sure we had food at the times we needed it.

The hotel is in a beautiful setting, located out of town and it felt like an oasis. My room was very big, clean, and comfortable- it was a triple and could easily accommodate 3 adult solo travellers. The staff were very welcoming and service was exceptional throughout my stay. In particular, Roshan helped with transport and a last minute safari tour when I had some problems - lots of tips and advice. Dilki at reception always had a welcoming smile, the manager made sure to come out and say ‘Hi’ and all the young men and woman around the property greeted you with a smile. Food in the restaurant was delicious and the pool was relaxing after a big day climbing stairs! I highly recommend this property.

We stayed for three nights during the off-season, and the hotel was very quiet – which we actually enjoyed. What really stood out was the hotel manager. He was extremely helpful and friendly, taking the time to assist us with our onward journey to Ella and explaining everything in detail. All other staff members were also very kind and attentive.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Truly Royal Experience – Royal Retreat Hotel, Sigiriya We had the pleasure of staying at the Royal Retreat Hotel in Sigiriya from 7th to 11th July, and what began as a 2-night booking quickly turned into a 4-night stay — simply because the service and hospitality were that good. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the calm beauty of the surroundings and the warm welcome from the staff. But what truly made this stay outstanding was the exceptional service provided by restaurant manager, Rostand Rathnayaka. His professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine care made every meal feel special and every guest feel valued. The hotel itself was peaceful, clean, and comfortable — a perfect base for exploring Sigiriya and the surrounding area. But it was Rostand’s warmth and attention to detail that elevated our experience far beyond expectations. Every interaction felt personal, every request was met with a smile, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Thanks to the incredible service, we had no hesitation in extending our stay by another two nights. It was an easy decision to linger a little longer in such a welcoming and well-run place. We wholeheartedly recommend the Royal Retreat Hotel to anyone visiting Sigiriya — and be sure to say hello to Rostand! He truly embodies the spirit of Sri Lankan hospitality.
