This property looks like a bar that is re-fashioned to a hotel. Tatami style sleeping , the tatamis and blankets provided were comfortable. Restaurants in the area and Aeon right down the street - easy to find food and groceries. Parking is right outside of the property and convenient. Owner correspondence was very quick and clear. Has a vinyl player with interesting Japanese classic vinyl discs.

My partner and I had a great time staying here whilst visiting Shimoda. After spending 5 nights in a small hotel in Tokyo, having some extra space to relax was much appreciated. We had some issues with the hot water (turns out I just didn’t know how that sort of system worked), but our host was very responsive and replied almost instantly when I messaged at 11pm. We also highly recommend the sushi restaurant just across the road to your left as you’re facing away from the front door of the property. The chef there was very friendly and welcoming. He spoke good English and was interested in how we had ended up in Shimoda. The only issue we experienced was the loud traffic outside the house from very early in the morning. The property is on a relatively busy street so I guess this is inevitable, but if you’re a light sleeper it is something to be mindful of. Overall, a great stay. Highly recommend!

The grovy retro decor, the free beer! The location is superb, near some of our favourite bars and restaurants, near the historical part of the town.
