I’ve stayed here quite a few times in the past 18months and I’ve noticed that Marston Inns is pairing back its offering in the rooms at the Florentine. (I don’t know about other Marston inns) There used to be Nespresso machines in the rooms, fluffy bath robes, home made cookies. Just a few extras, these have now gone which is a shame. And the carpets are stained and in my room this time, (Dolaff, which has an off putting smell?? Always has since I’ve been coming) the net curtains are ripped, which gives it an uncared for look and feel. The upholstery on the chairs is stained too. I know it must be a perennial problem, happening repeatedly but hotels surely have a way to carpet and upholstery clean more regularly and successfully? I realise this must all be part of cutting costs in a difficult economy but it’s hard for regular users of the hotel to find it’s becoming shabbier and offering less nice touches. The restaurant was good as always and I always like to eat and drink there, alone and with family. Waiting staff very nice etc. and the manageress Julie is always welcoming and lovely. I will be back whenever in Sheffield. I like The Florentine so I felt I would mention my thoughts, since you asked! I’m just a bit sad to see it’s decor deteriorating (in the rooms) and removal of the extras that were very nice before. Click
