Naomi “'Something different' - an impressively affordable slice of history”

What a treat! I booked this as 'something different' to break up a long journey... We were given the key and left to our own devices: perfect. I was very pleasantly surprised by how much space we had - I'd chosen this as a better alternative to a family room with a shared bathroom at a hostel, for the same price... and what an upgrade! With 2 rooms, a lounge/diner, a hallway and a huge bathroom, we had more than enough space. The 'vintage' decor really added to my children's excitement about how different it all was (especially the latrine in the bathroom!), while I was pleased with how clean it was despite the amount of supposed 'dust collectors'. I love the honesty box policy for if you need anything from the kitchen (we didn't use this, but it's a great idea and creates a welcoming ambience). Sernancelhe itself is very cute - we had a lovely wander, went up the steps to the statue of Mary, found a good restaurant for dinner and a surprisingly modern café for a pancake breakfast the next day, all within walking distance. Don't miss the C12th church. I've already recommended this little gem to goodness knows how many people.

What a tremendous property of exceptional character: ok it's basically a large house with lockable bedrooms and separate lockable bathrooms, but what a house! We had the run of the whole first-floor apartment up amazing stone steps, and it was full of old furniture and curiosities. We opened a cupboard door in our room to find a screen looking down into an old little ground-floor chapel. Kitchen was functional and allowed us to cook a meal to take a break from eating out. The bathroom was old-fashioned but clean and functional.

The staff os extremely nice and friendly. It’s an XVIII century house, and they explained the history of the house and the family. The house was clean and easy to walk around.
