This property is self catering and had all the kitchen amenities necessary to make meals ourselves. There is also a barbecue and a vegetable garden we could make use of. The pool and garden are lovely and provided a welcome place to relax after a busy day exploring the wide range of sights and attractions the area has to offer.

We have always stayed in Vezelay before but were looking for somewhere a little quieter this time and we could not have been happier with our choice. Located in a village just 6 miles from Vezelay in gorgeous countryside, the Pool House is tucked away behind the courtyard of the main house, away from the road and not overlooked by neighbours. The gîte overlooks the pool and the large lawn, with the River Cure just through the gate at the bottom of the garden. The gîte has been cleverly laid out to provide spacious, comfortable accommodation filled with high quality furniture and tasteful beach-themed decoration. It was spotlessly clean, the kitchen was very well equipped and we enjoyed having a sink each in the bathroom. The bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept on and the Bluetooth radio had such an impressive sound that we found it online and bought one for ourselves! The whole ambience of the gîte was light, bright and airy, calming and tranquil, especially in the evenings sitting on the sofa with a glass of wine, looking out at the beautiful view and listening to the rippling of the pool water, the breeze in the stunning weeping willow tree and the soft huffing noises of the chickens as they roamed the lawn. Christopher, the host, and his lovely, gentle giant dog Socrate, made us feel so welcome and 'at home'. Christopher manages to combine the warmth of a family home atmosphere with the discretion & privacy of a hotel in a very successful way! Thank you so much to him and Socrate for a very happy visit, we can't wait to go back!

Friendliness of the host for sure! Walnuts from the garden, eggs from their chicken, nice view in the cosy garden and great location to explore the environment. Very nice shower / bathroom.
