Good spacious flat. Good barbecue. Nice free vibe, nice hosts. Good location ,short walk from north bay , nice length walk with the dog . Good parking although on street.

The wet room was the highlight and one of the reasons we chose to stay for my elderly mum. It has the best shower I've used in an air bnb or hotel & being well over six foot I didn't have to worry about knocking my arms as is the norm in my case. Mum loved it too! We found the beds really comfortable, they are quite firm, however, we all prefer that but realise this is a subjective and personal thing, what is good for one isn't for another & there are reviews on here complaining of the beds but we slept well on them. The Old Rectory Ground Floor has been lovingly restored, you can see alot of effort has been put in with some great detail in certain areas, it is just a pleasant place to be and we liked it especially mum who is already talking about returning next year. Many thanks to the owner who sorted the wi-fi for us, we did manage to see lots of tennis and Gardners World ( for mum although we did only watch the one episode unlike Xmas when we saw 8 episodes! I think she has a secret crush on Monty Don). Check out the station from the small bridge at the end of Westover Rd & you will see the worlds longest bench seat at an impressive 139 metres! In true British style though the trains don't stop here but 150 metres further down the platform! - its still impressive though. Also if the sun is elusive & you have small ( and big!) Kids have a look at the digger cafe on Victoria, we didn't go but it looks fun, think you have to book for a session though if you want a go on the diggers. The location is fine with plenty of shops close by & takeaways on Falsgrave Road. I managed to walk down to the south beach front by myself in about 14 mins which included walking down the windy slope and not taking the lift tram or to give its proper term Funicular (no one ever seems to be able to remember it though). My mum did find the walk a challenge though even using the tram lift but she is 81 so for most people it should be fine.

Melinie and Jim are fantastic hosts we have stayed in The Old Vicarage 4 times and all our family members love it. There are plenty spacious rooms and close to shops and restaurants and pubs and only a few mins walk into town centre. We can't wait to come back.
