The cottage is in a great location, minutes walk from the beach and around 15 minutes walk to town and rail station / buses. For those on foot, as we were, find the Newcastle Packet pub and the road next to it will lead up to Overton terrace. Turn right at the top. We don't drive and did not require the 2 parking tickets that were left for us. There were always parking spaces while we were there. ( Week days) The cottage was spotless and comfortable, everything we needed for our stay had been provided. We appreciated that milk was left in the fridge for us. Not listed under amenities but iron and hairdryers are provided. Lots of dvds, books for guests. TV reception wasn't the best. There was plenty to do locally and a little further afield. We were using public transport which we picked up outside the rail station. Coastliner buses to Robin Hoods bay, Whitby, Filey, Bridlington. All within 1- 1.5hrs ride. A local taxi to the rail station cost £8. There were no Ubers available. Find the Victorian tramway up to town from 9.30am daily @ £1.50 single There is a steep climb uphill to the cottage which may be challenging with poor mobility; it was quite a workout! The stairs in the cottage are steep as is expected in such a property. Steps to the castle are to the left of the cottage. Steps to the beach/ seafront are to the left of the property. We discovered a local convenience store on the front, by using the steps in dog and duck lane, the store was at the end of the lane. It saved us walking to town for provisions. There is a ' breezer' bus which runs along the coast from North to South bays. Being pensioners, the hop on hop off ticket only cost £3. Absolutely spoilt for choice with restaurants, cafes pubs and chippys! All within a short walking distance. The Lifeboat fish and chip shop is highly recommended! We couldn't finish a small portion but it was delicious and so fresh.

The location was good, with stunning harbour views. The cottage was incredibly clean and in lovely condition with rooms which are spacious and attractive. Absolutely everything was supplied; there was an incredible range of equipment. The owner was easy to contact and willing to help. The two staircases are rather steep but despite me having a heart problem I managed fine.
