Marie “For the chateaux lovers. A peaceful stay.”

Beautiful little chateau near Saumur. Good location for a peaceful stay. There is a swimming pool. But it wasn’t the season yet so didn’t try it. A very helpful host. We would like to come again.

Samir “Very good”

The owner was this very friendly and helpful Irish lady. The room was quite luxurious, and the pool was nice and quiet, behind the château. The place itself is a bit out of Saumur, but not too far so easily reachable.
Paul “A historic gem set in the heart of beautiful countryside.”

The location could not have been better, within easy, level, walking of Saumur town centre and there was access opposite the hotel entrance to a compacted path which led up and down stream along the left bank of the Loire for miles (or kilometres as the locals would rightly say). The hotel building itself offered history in every room, a rear garden that was a perfect place to sip the local produce and a swimming pool for those so inclined. We stayed in the 'Medici' room, with a king size four poster bed and with more than enough storage space for the bits and pieces we needed for a weeks stay in the region. There was no shortage of parking spaces at the front of the building either. Mary, our host, was lovely, charming, and full of ideas and she took the time each morning to sit and chat and tell us some very funny stories, she was also a great source of local knowledge as well as a wonderful cook, the Guinness loaf she produced one morning was so memorable, the hotel also produced its own jam during our stay which was excellent. Breakfast was taken on a long communal table which encouraged you to get to know fellow guests, a wonderful idea which led to an exchange of ideas and notes on potential places to visit, and there was no shortage of food options available either. Monique who assists Mary in the house engaged me in conversation in French every morning which helped restore my rusty French back to something approaching usefulness, she also made sure you didn't have to ask for more coffee. There is no shortage of things to do within an hour or so's drive if you want to get out beyond Saumur, over seventy places to sample and then buy some local wine for a start! This was our first return to the town in 36 years and it hadn't lost any of its unique charm.
