This was a little gem! Very spacious and clean. Richard was a excellent host. The location was perfect. It was only 5 minutes walk to the main town square, with cafes, bars and restaurants. But very quiet because just far enough away to avoid traffic and pedestrian noise. Warm enough to be able to sit outside on the back verandah of the houseboat and admire the view of the castle. We also ate at Richard's bar/restaurant a few nights where we were warmly welcomed by other restaurant "regulars", who had good English, which was handy because our German is non-existent! The bathroom is pretty small, but I think you should expect that on a houseboat. St Goar, is tiny, but quiet lovely, and an excellent base to explore the middle Rhine. We used trains, which run once per hour. All the river boats stop here too.
