Ivy “A comfortable homey stay in a convenient location”

We were two couples who stayed at Stariy Marokand for three nights. It is well situated at the back of Old City restaurant ( which serves homey delicious food by the way). The owner picked us up from the train station at a very reasonable price and we used his services again for the return leg to the station. The guesthouse has three storeys and we were assigned the rooms on the third floor. The first room that we had was like a large family style room with a double and a single bed with a tiny attached bathroom. As mentioned by some other reviewers, there's also some sewage smell coming from the drains. The staircase steps are quite steep for seniors like us and there are no banisters. Fortunately, we were able to change our rooms to the ground floor on the second day. Breakfast is home cooked and hearty and there are some variations to the menu each day. You can either have the breakfast in the dining room if it's too cold or in the garden. The rooms are clean and are made up daily. The owner Zinaida is a wonderful hostess who will ensure that your needs are met. Would recommend that you communicate with the hostess via Whatsapp as she does not speak English.

As a longtime Genius 3 member, I have stayed at many hotels, but this was by far one of the cleanest. It feels like being at your best friend’s home. Moiseeva and her husband were very helpful, and the breakfast in the garden was truly delightful, with everything freshly homemade.

Hostess is warm and helpful, even though there is language barrier. Room is spacious and clean. portion of breakfast is more than enough across the street is a big beautiful park, and there are many nice restaurants nearby.

Friendly family run guest house. Railway station transfers. Excellent breakfast in relaxing garden. Interesting location in Russian colonial district a relaxing stroll along leafy boulevards to the historic sites.
