Traveller reviews

“Great location. Fantastic views. Clean and comfortable accommodation. Highly recommend.”

The cottage was clean, well equipped and offered fantastic views across the mountains. Helen and Clint were great hosts. The property has a small historical inn, the smallest in New Zealand which offers plenty of charm and character as well as a way to meet other guests and occasional local. We booked ahead for dinner, and we spoke with the chef about his meal options and ingredients, his meals were delicious.

“Enjoyed the Cottage & surroundings including the welcome which overall made our stay a special one.”

Great setting in the country environment with very tidy grounds and enjoyed the cottage design.

There was everything you could think of in the rooms, and the hosts were exceptional! You need to order the food as this was first class too!

“Well appointed, comfortable country cottage”

We stayed in cottage number 2. It was fabulous. All you need for a comfortable stay. We only used 1 bedroom but it would be perfect for a family or 2 x couples too. We decided to eat in and do chef Sebastian’s 3 course set meals- both nights were absolutely delicious and really lovely evenings around a shared table with other guests. Clint and Helen were wonderful hosts and made us feel welcomed and at home. You could definitely self cater as well, with your own Weber bbq on the terrace or using the well appointed wee kitchen. If so, make sure you stock up in a bigger town as there’s not much in St. Arnaud township. The cottage was a great place to chill out and relax, and is close to the Nelson lakes national park. We are definitely planning another visit back.
