Hotel Overview

The 19th-century Duke Hotel is located on the waterfront, overlooking the stunning Bay of Islands. It features a guest lounge, restaurant and bar and garden bar, as well as a gymnasium. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
Situated in Russell town centre, The Duke of Marlborough is just 4 minutes walk from Russell Museum and the historic Pompallier House. Paihia is a 40-minute drive away.
The rooms feature modern decor with a traditional twist. Each room includes a refrigerator and a flatscreen TV. Some rooms offer a private balcony and bay views.
The Duke of Marlborough's restaurant offers a range of New Zealand favourites, including locally caught seafood. An extensive list of local wines is available at the waterfront House Bar.

These rooms open out to a Street Facing Balcony at the back of the Hotel, or a Shared Internal Terrace/Courtyard, they do not offer sea-views. These rooms have been decorated in keeping with the historic Duke of Marlborough Hotel and feature artwork by the iconic northland artist Lester Hall. Each room has a super king size bed, 39 inch Smart TV with satellite channels, en suite bathroom with a shower, a reading chair, tea/coffee making facilities, refrigerator and complimentary WiFi access. We have a stay at the Duke a couple times a year. We love the historic nature of it and the way the current owners have embraced it. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and always the same so they must take very good care of them. The beds are comfy and water pressure great. Food is fantastic and local.
