The location along the frozen river was just out of this world! You most likely will need Bolt taxi to get you into town and back, unless you're ok with the 1-hour walk (we did in the snow and it was beautiful, but ould not do it often). Teh fire place in the hut, including supplied wood added to the nostalgia. The sauna was fantastic and only a short stroll from the hut (additional towels are supplied free of charge). The kitchen is well supplied with the basics, and a home cooked meal is easily done. The floor heating added to the comfort and inimised the winter weather to only being outside. The added christmas decorations finished the festive atmosphere

Our stay at Saarituvaat Cottage was truly unforgettable and felt like a rare slice of Finnish magic. Set in pristine nature, the cottages are perfectly equipped with everything you could possibly need, thoughtful, comfortable, and designed for a truly relaxing stay. The fireplace inside the cottage was especially wonderful, creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere that made evenings feel incredibly special. The setting is breathtaking. When we visited, the lake was completely frozen, and the views across it were simply stunning, quiet, expansive, and deeply calming. The private sauna experience was exceptional, a true Finnish ritual that felt both restorative and unforgettable, especially paired with the surrounding stillness and natural beauty. Despite feeling wonderfully remote, Saarituvaat is conveniently located close to the city, not in the city centre but just a 10-minute Uber ride away, which made it easy to enjoy the best of both worlds. Paula, our host, was absolutely fabulous. She shared several hidden gems, was incredibly helpful with all our questions, and made us feel genuinely at home from the moment we arrived. Her warmth, care, and attention to detail elevated the entire experience. This is the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave. I would certainly go back to Saarituvaat Cottage again and recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a peaceful, authentic, and beautifully hosted stay in Finland. Thank you, Paula.
