I booked Mayfare Hotel for a night’s stay through Booking.com, attracted by its reputation as a budget-friendly option. While the stay itself turned out to be good, the booking experience left me quite shaken. About three days before my stay, I started receiving a series of messages stating, “Your reservation is at risk of cancellation. We’re reaching out to remind you to confirm your upcoming reservation to ensure a smooth check-in experience upon arrival. Your reservation is currently pending confirmation. To secure your booking and avoid automatic cancellation, please confirm it by clicking the button below.” When I clicked to confirm, a page popped up with an automatically filled-in amount of €300, which was strange as my cost for two rooms was only around ₹7,800. I changed the amount and proceeded, but at the final payment page (where the OTP is required), no final amount was displayed. I went ahead with the payment, only to get a bank notification that ₹39,000 had been charged! Within a minute, I canceled the transaction and received a call from my bank, which assured me that no money had actually been debited. Thankfully, I avoided a serious mishap. The money was going to an unknown vendor! This incident raises a serious concern — both Booking.com and the hotel authorities need to investigate such issues. I even mentioned this at the hotel reception, but it didn’t get much acknowledgment. On the positive side, the stay was comfortable, the food was good, and the breakfast buffet was excellent with plenty of options. The property, established for the Hockey World Cup, is indeed a nice budget-friendly hotel. If you’re looking for an affordable stay with good food and amenities, Mayfare Hotel is a good choice, but I strongly recommend double-checking your payment process when booking online.

It is wonderful to stay at Mayfair world cup village, it is a nice place and very close to Rourkela Hockey stadium.
