Basilica Hotel was really good place to stay. Note the hotel star class, not luxury but good for the class. Location makes it possible to walk to most of the main attractions like Colosseum. We walked 19 000+ steps every day. Main train station Termini is 650 metres away, we took metro from there to the Vatican area. Used another metro line to get closer to restaurant area between Circo Maximo and the river Tiber. Worth exploring. There are good restaurants around. It is worth to explore a little bit to avoid the busiest tourist restaurants and find those used by local people. We booked 2 persons superiour room. It was nice, spacious enough, with a modern handy bathroom, which was also quite spacious. Beds were solid. Room was cleaned every day. The breakfast was nice, enough to eat and peaceful. An outside terrace also. We compared beforehand dozens of hotels and their prices and tried to find something cheaper, but there was always something suspicious and bad reviews in other choices. Stayed four nights. Paid about 280 euros per night in April. I think it was worth money. We had departure at morning, 8 AM. Hotel reception called local official taxi to take to the airport. It came in 4 minutes, and it took 40 minutes to the airport, cost 55 euros. We consireded also taking train 2 x 18 euros but decided not to walk to the station so saved time to eat breakfast before leaving the hotel. Reception was really helpful.
