The hotel staff were very amiable . The hotel is in the heart of the old town and because of that has no parking, if you come with a car you will have to park a few blocks away . The breakfast is a la carte( not open buffet ) and is wonderful All the rooms are upstairs on the first or second floor with no elevator, the hotel staff will help you with the luggage but .they will not lift you up the stairs so you will have to climb a few dozens of stairs a few times a day The room I stayed in was spacious and clean including a well equipped kitchen, take care walking the room especially at night there are a lot of height differences in the room like stair in the entrance stair in the kitchen and bath

We were holidaying elsewhere on the island, west of Chania, in May 2025. Having visited Rethymno for the day on a previous visit to the island we wanted to stay overnight and sample the night life this time. We booked at one night stay in the balcony suite at the Civitas, mainly for the location. We booked bed & breakfast. The location was excellent. Our hostess was gracious & welcoming, the room was as the listing photos but looked better in reality. It was clean, spacious, comfortable and very well equipped (we could have self catered had we wished to). The hot tub bath comfortably accommodated two people and had a shower attachment. In the evening we had a pleasant stroll up to the harbour and chose one of the restaurants there (Cava D'oro) for dinner which we enjoyed very much. We slept well in the comfortable, well dressed bed. The hotel has a first floor, out door seating area that we would probably have used had we been staying longer. The balcony of our room was not large but was perfect for pre-breakfast morning coffee whilst enjoying the view. We had an excellent, generous breakfast in the restaurant in front of the hotel before checking out. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay which was excellent value for money and would look to stay at Civitas again in future. We had packed only for a one night stay. Had we taken more clothes with us we would have asked if they had a room available for a second night.

Great location on the boulevard, but also quiet at night despite this. Delicious breakfast choices from the café next door. Rooms are stylishly old fashioned but well-equipped and comfortable..

Nice, comfortable and extravagantly furbished hotel on the seaside boulevard of Rethymno. Staff is very friendly; breakfast (which is served on the restaurant terrace in front of the house) was sumptuous and exzellent.
