The distance to the train station was the best, a few meters only, and also musea and downtown area are in 10-15min walking distance. The room had a view onto the station but nevertheless, it was silent enough for a good sleep.

The nice looking hotel was right opposite Rennes main railway station. Close by where various eateries, bars and a bank. The lady waiting at reception was well turned out and the room was easy to find. The breakfast was good.
