Al “Cosy room and great value for money”

I needed an overnight stay before the ferry to France and knew I would arrive late and leave early, so didn't want to spend a lot of money just for a few hours sleep. So I chose this place because of the price without expecting much, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The room was great, very comfy and had everything you need. The remote check in procedure was really useful as I had a lot of train trouble and arrived even later than I had planned. I spoke briefly with the owner by phone, and I get the impression that they are good people, who genuinely want to provide a good service rather than trying to squeeze money out of people. I'm kinda sad I didn't get the chance to check out the pub below the rooms as it looked like fun. I would definitely recommend, and if I come back through Portsmouth I would definitely stay here again.

Cheap and cheerful accommodation above a pub. Room was small but well appointed. Having a private shower/WC was a plus at this price.

The location was perfect, although near a main road the place was quiet, hardly any road noise on an evening. Access to the permises and room was easy via codes and a key provided. Parking was a bit tricky but even though a sign said a permit was required we parked for 5 days without a problem. Altough the stairway to the rooms was a bit narrow it was manageable. For the price it was a bargain. The Hosts were very friendly and i would highly recommend this place to anyone. If i ever return to Portsmouth this would be my chosen location, very handy for shops, bars and the coast

It was my third time staying there. There are a few options in Portsmouth that create a competitive market strategy for this place. Nothing fancy. If you are a solo traveler who wants to manage the trip economically, this is the option. The rooms are very small, but they have almost everything you need. I don't recommend the place for summer that much because there is no fan or air conditioner, but for other seasons, it must be even better. You can have tea or coffee in your room.
