Met with host Claudia on arrival. She was very pleasant and attentive. She assisted with some concerns we had on arrival and it was a good exchange. Location for us was great as we had a car, just a few mins from Portoferraio in the north and about the same to get to Lacona to the south. Perfect central location to explore the island and its beaches. Setting is literally up in the mountain just off the main road so easily accessible but also private with a beautiful view of Portoferraio, not something we are necessarily used to but we enjoyed it. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that the apartment had two bathrooms and not one. This was great as adults could have one, and kids their own. I don’t think this was so clear on the description. It sounds like a small thing, but all the utensils were sharp! Sharp knives were a godsend (ever try to cut a tomato with a blunt knife? Ughhh) and the kitchen even though quite small had everything you needed for a short stay. The space is quite good with a nice balcony, however the living room could be maximised if the cupboards at the back were removed (they were full of older German books; great if you are German and ready to read but otherwise serve no purpose for most beach going holidaymakers) and that would create a very nice living room space. Decent enough bedrooms and beds, bedside tables and reading lights (lights too bright though and should be warm light) Back to nature - at night you hear the owls, we heard a herd of wild pigs passing through, one day we saw them and my kids went wild with excitement. Parking spaces available on site, big bonus on Elba where parking is constantly an issue.
