We were looking for a base in Porto to see the city on our way back from Santiago and we found The Gate. We were allowed to check in early as the room was already available. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We booked breakfast the night before for a discounted rate.

The location was good, 5-7 mins walk to Mercado do Bolhao. Chapel of Souls and Majestic Cafe also very close by, 15 mins walk to the famous library. Everything is basically within walking distance. Staff were helpful and polite. A choice of metro stations with easy access to the airport which is approximately 40 min commute from the hotel. Has a safe.
