I stayed at Oporto Chic&Cozy - Ateneu with my mother, who has some mobility issues. While the apartment is absolutely stunning and perfectly located, it’s not the most suitable choice for people with mobility challenges. Although there is a lift, there are multiple single steps throughout the apartment—one step up to enter, one step down to the downstairs bedrooms, another step down to the living room, and a step up to the upstairs bathroom. These transitions require attention and could be challenging for some guests. The decor is beautiful throughout, and the bedrooms are spacious, though not very private. Curtains need to be kept closed at all times for privacy, and the lights in the internal garden are kept on at night, which diminishes the effectiveness of the blackout curtains. There are some aspects that could improve the overall experience: A welcome pack with basics like kitchen towels, dishwasher tablets, a couple of coffee pods and extra tea towels would be helpful, especially for short stays. The apartment felt very bare of essentials to get started. Clearer instructions for operating appliances (like the dishwasher), coffee machine (what type of pods to buy)and the Wi-Fi password would also be appreciated. The heating in the living room could be improved, as it relies solely on an AC unit mounted very high, leaving the space cold. The bedrooms were nice and warm, but the gas towel rail was unusable unless the heating was on. Perhaps adding a timer for radiators in the living room would make a difference. Overall, I would stay again now that I know what to expect. The location is unbeatable, and the apartment is beautiful—just be aware of these small inconveniences.
