Behind a rather bland entrance from a small street, Grande Hotel Paris is an oasis of calm and elegance. Our room was not large and drawer space was limited, but this is a city centre hotel in an old part of Porto, so what would you expect? The view from our third floor room was impressive - the hotel garden, rooftops and the Clerigos Tower. Breakfast was good but the selection did not change from day to day during the week of our stay. The staff were helpful, even arranging for us to have breakfast at 6am on the day of our departure when breakfast was usually served from 6.30am. The location is within walking distance of the Douro riverfront and many of Porto's major attractions, provided you are prepared for the steep hills. There are several excellent restaurants nearby.

Staff v helpful. Let us change room as first room was at front overlooking street which was v noisy at night.

Location is good besides (which is fairly unavoidable in Porto) being on a hill- close to Sao Bento train station and attractions/restaurants. The hotel is clean and comfortable, with a generally good atmosphere.
