This option was twice cheaper than other hotels in Madeira for my days, so I did not have high expectations. But in fact it was quite good, especially because I needed just a place to sleep. I stayed there for a week and did not experience any issue. Bed was comfy enough. Room was minimalistic - just a small table, nightstand, a couple of hangers. Small supermarket and bar on the ground floor. Bus stop nearby. Big parking area in 3 minutes walking distance. Room was cleaned twice during my stay. Building is old and many things could be renovated but it did not cause any inconvenience for me.

Pensão Fernandes is a characterful hotel tucked away in the mountains just up from Porto Moniz. If you are looking for an authentic Madeiran experience that you’ll remember, it’s great! Comfy bed, fresh mountain air wafting into the room, hot shower and great coffee in the bar below. Simple and good value for money. Daniel and his lovely mum won’t hesitate to sort you a taxi!

We arrived end of February when the weather still bit chilly and windy on the north side . we got a quiet big room with separate bathroom and there was even the kitchen area as well . Super hot water and what a surprise electric BED heater was underneath us which made our stay and sleep super cozy (Love that)
