Charlotte “Tranquil, welcoming place to truly relax in”

Like a home away from home! I was traveling alone without speaking much Portuguese, and finding this gem was what made my trip wonderful! Elianni was so welcoming and made sure I had everything I needed, included great recommendations of what to do in the area and when to go. The location is perfect, right on the beach and just across the road from the mangrove on the other side. It’s completely safe to walk around. Breakfast was great with fresh fruit juice and hammocks to relax in. Walk just a few minutes and you can be in the mangroves or on your way to the natural tidal pools. I would highly recommend staying in Maracaípe for nature lovers. The tranquility and natural beauty and biodiversity is amazing! I even watched baby turtles hatching on the beach through a local conservation NGO. A stay I’ll never forget

Adjoining the beach. Watch sunrise from the seaview chalets. Personalised hospitality. Breakfasts (cold+cooked) individually prepared. Small pousada, easy to make friends. First, correction to a reviewer who must have arrived at high tide and declared there was “no beach”: the beach is accessed by a few short steps from the sea-facing garden, but at high tide the waves do indeed come right up to the breakwater that protects the pousada. It is a soft sand beach … you can walk along it for half an hour in either direction. We upgraded to a sea-facing chalet (one of two) and it was very much worth it. By leaving the curtains open a few inches we could watch the sun coming up over the sea while still in bed. We would get up, splash around a bit or exercise on the lawn, or take a hammock, or just go back to bed until breakfast (served whenever you are ready, after about 8am). If you go very early it is private enough to swim naked. We felt the experience was superior to the more expensive places with many chalets and a big long garden just to get to the sea. It is worth getting to know Beté, the host and owner. Treat her as a friend and the friendship will be returned tenfold. With only about 10 chalets it is also easy to get to know other guests (or keep oneself to oneself, whichever you prefer. The pousada only serves breakfast, though Beté often makes cake and tea available and once the two of us were invited for lunch with her family. But it is a big breakfast, fruits, coffee, filled tapiocas, toasties, jam, eggs done whichever way you like, fresh sucos, yoghurt, granola. For lunch or in the evening we recommend getting an uber (costs very little) into Galinhas, or walk about 10 minutes along the main road to Cafe Paraiso which serves delicious traditional food. For something more fancy, try one of the restaurants accessible from the beach though we found their dishes a bit hit and miss (the ceviche was good).
